2010 Autumn(2)

2010.11.27 TGIS Blog (Posted by Yuyu)

Hello there.

How are you? How is your spiritual climate? You can find something at GIS.

Ice Break

Mamiko led us in a fantastic activity. We described ourselves each other on the card. Someone is talented. Someone is warmhearted. Someone is han-d-some.

We all embraced everyone's uniqueness.(AMEN!)

Worship

Maru led the worship time and we sang these lovely songs.

1. One way

2. Lord I Give My Heart to you

3. How Great is our God

4. Mighty to save

Testimony by Go

Go shared his encouraging story this week. He showed us that trong belief goes beyond any difficulties like communication gap, overwork, and unemployment. It was so inspiring to hear that his old watch battery had run out just when he recovered his faith. Thank you, Go!

Message

Wayn talked about spiritual climate today.

He started with this unbelievable story. A hotel lost its beach and almost went bankrupt once. But the beach came back after praying, and the hotel recovered financially.

And we looked up the script of Luke.

Luke 12:2-12

But whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house'

Bible is telling that we should bless people before telling them about God.In other words, we should first face their needs rather than judging whether they are mean and awful.

("Peace to this house"... I like it. Let me use it.)

We had a fellowship time after the service while we're happy to welcome new people. Happy Christian Anniversary to Kumi and Yumi!

This is all what happened today.

Autumn is over, and the Christmas season is coming, eh? Peace to YOUR house. (o^_^)v v(^_^o)

Hello, everyone out there. I'm happy to meet you again. (^^)/

This is what happened today.

Ice Break

Mamiko led ice break time with a game called Shiritori - word association game using

alphabet letters. We tried to write as many words as much as we can. But trickily, NG

words were not to be counted. For example, edible ones like egg, deer, or ostrich.

So... how come my team lost twice? I could eat an elephant.

[Testimony]

Ronnie gave us his testimony today. His close ex-colleague unexpectedly passed away,

even though he was a young seeker and had his own family. He must be in heaven now,

because he believed in God. (Sorry, I skip Ronnie's Omiai story here.)

Life is short. We're supposed to be thankful for every single day.

[Worship]

- I Believe

- From Inside Out

- At the cross

- Mighty to save

Tomoko, Yumi, thank you for your operation!

[Message]

Wayne shared a message about "Marketplace ministry" and Kumi translated for us.

Psalms82:3-4

1Corinthians 1:27

Judges3:18

He referred to our availability as Marketplace ministers. We can help people even if we are

not strong enough. I'd take it that we should support one another, because no one is perfect.

Also, he talked about the strength and weakness of Samson who was powerful but didn't

act with integrity. Then we learned to have a faith and follow the Lord way.

We also had a fellowship time with a lot of sweets. It was very nice to talk to you!

hank God it's Saturday. See you next week.

Hi Everyone,

If you came to TGIS then you had a great time, if you didn't then you missed out!
This is what happened this Sat on Oct 30th!

At 14:00, for our conversation time we fooled around and cast a lemon lure with a telescopic rod and small reel. The boys: Ronnie, Colin, Kei, and Aki had fun talking and doing.

IMG_0444.jpg
To start off TGIS in the Icebreak was the ever effervescent Yue with her Telephone Game. There were 2 teams and she would whisper a phrase and each team member would try to repeat the phrase correctly then the last person would say it out loud, the team that was faster and accurate could get a point. We had lots of fun telephoning one another.

Next was the talented Hawaii Boy, Colin who led us in worship to the Lord. We sang and praise our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the PA was the handsome Aki and willowy Yuyu working the sound system.
The lights were handled by one of our young ladies.

We had a special sharing time of testimony and slides from our dear brother Shingo as he shared on his trip to Shanghai at a photo exhibition where he exhibited works of his father.

Pastor Elmer shared on going to the pool of Siloam, that means being sent. To be a blessing and carry the message of Jesus Christ to the world.

The message was beautifully translated by the hard working Kumi.

Then we had a nice time of fellowship. We had some newcomers and that's always a good thing.

We said goodbye to our dear brothers Colin and Kei and hope they will return soon!
We hope to see you at the next TGIS, where everyday we thank God not just on Saturdays! See ya and God bless!

ICEBREAKER

Ronnie led today's icebreaker with a game called "Wuzzle".  The name of the game is made from two words:  "word" and "puzzle".  We had to guess a word or phrase by studying a picture.  See if you can guess the phrase for the following wuzzle.

STAND

------------

I

The letter "I" is placed under the word "stand" to create the phrase, "I understand."  Did you figure it out?  Do you understand?! :p

WORSHIP

Maru led us in another great time of worship to our God.  Here are the songs we sang this week:

              Here I Am To Worship

Lord I Give You My Heart

              Awesome God

SPECIAL WORSHIP

I played a worship song using the ukulele today.  Did you know that the word "ukulele" means "jumping flea" (uku = flea, lele = jumping)?  Did you also know that the instrument originally came from Portugal and not Hawai'i?

I sang the song Kanaka Waiwai which comes from the scriptures in Matthew 19:16-24.  It talks about the young, rich man who asked Jesus how to enter Heaven.  Jesus told the young man to give away all his possessions and to follow Him, but the young man turned away sad because he couldn't let go of his riches.  Are you willing to follow Jesus at all costs?

I also taught everyone the Hawaiian phrase "Aloha Ke Akua" which means "God is Love!"

MESSAGE

Wayne used the following scriptures to share about his relationship with his identical twin brother:

              John 11:23-26

              Philemon 13-14

              Proverbs 18

Wayne and his brother were very close and did everything together - go to school, eat, sleep, play, and even fight.  They both believed in Jesus at a very young age but eventually fell away from the faith.  Wayne rededicated his life to Jesus in high school, but his brother did not.  His brother later came back to Jesus and is now married to a Christian woman, attends church services regularly, and even opens his home to bible studies.

LAST WORSHIP SONG

Mamiko closed us with the song "One Way".  Yes, Jesus is the only way!

Come visit us.  I hope to see you at TGIS soon!
