2010-11 Winter
Here is what happened to TGIS on 19th...
Icebreak
Lisa lead the game this time,
we played a type of "message passing game".
W took turn drawing picture on the board instead of saying a message.
It was difficult to understand what each picture was trying to represent.
We had a lot of fun!
Thank you so much, Lisa!
Ronnie lead the worship time.
We can sing the worship song with perfect lyrics,
Tank you Ronnie, PA team!
Message
Pastor lead this time.
W have many times to make a big decision in our life.
like, what should i do? should i change the job?, to whom should i get married ect...
Nbody wants to get the worng way,
So how can we decide?
Samuel 5:23~
"so David inquired of the Lord, and he answerd,...."
these passages is about how David defeated the Philistines.
See,
we need to ask God through prayer.
God knows everything, so its no wonder that He knows your answer.
After the service,
we enojyed chatting with lots of snacks=)
Wll, everybody is welcome!
W are looking forward to seeing YOU♥
Hi everyone! Sorry for the late blog!
here is what happened on 2011.02.12.
Ice Break
Today Yumi introduced a new game to TGIS! It is word search!!!
We divided into three groups. Each group got a word-search sheet.
All the words are mixed up in a pool and we had to find all of them as fast as possible.
It was very fun~~~
Here is something similar to what we did
Worship
Sam from Singapore led us in worship today!!!
He shared scriptures before each song, explaining how each song touched his heart this week.
Thank you Sam for the great worship!
Testimony
Today Kumi shared about her rough week at work. Her co-workers, who are professors at a well-known university, had a big argument during one of their meetings. Kumi was surprised how grown-ups can have so much negative feelings buried about something and then explode them in public. Kumi prayed much about the people who were arguing, and one of them actually wrote an apology e-mail to everyone for his/her behavior. This professor is a Christian but he\her was not really acting like a Christian for the past few years. Everyone was surprised about the professor's e-mail and Kumi embraced it and asked the professor to pray together one day. After that e-mail and after much praying, everyone in the department started to respond positively to resolve the conflict and the bitter feelings between each other. Thank God for working in each one's heart.
Message
Today Wayne gave the message and Kumi did the interpretation! Thank you both!
Fellowship

Hope to see you next week
God bless,

Welcome to the TGIS (Thank God It's Saturday) blog for this week January 15th Saturday. This is what went on.
Icebreak
We started off with this neat game where 3 people are involved. If Akiko the game master said you're a rabbit then the middle person will hold up his two hands to make ears and the right and left person will hold on to the middle person and stomp their outer food saying pyong! pyong! pyong! We did this for and elephant, snake, cow and AKB 48. It was a fun and refreshing time.
Worship and Testimony
Next we had Pastor Elmer and Mamiko worship leading us into the presence of Almighty God. This is what TGIS is all about to worship Jesus the King of Kings!
We had a refreshing testimony by our new brother Sam who has come to work in Tokyo. He talked about how he was born into a Christian family and moved from Hong Kong to Singapore. He got his college degree at Cambridge Uni in the UK. His early life there was only a head knowledge of Jesus, but in his college years, he came to know Jesus with his heart.
Message
The message was done by this guy from Hawaii, but I forgot his name. Anyway, he talked about the theme For One Life and in our lives we need to know what value, priorities, and commitment is all about so we can make a difference for one life. He also talked about triage in a disaster prioritize: red means critical, yellow-caution or serious and can become critical, green-minor or walking wounded and black is dead or imminent.
Again the interpreting from English to Japanese was by our sister Kumi.
We closed with a last song by Mamiko, and fellowship time.
We had 4 newcomers and we thank them for coming.
So please come and join us this Saturday from 2 pm.
God bless you.

Testimony
Everyone shared how they spent their New Year's eve. Some spent at a church praying.
Some spent watching TV. Some spent at a restaurant with friends.
Messeage
The theme for Shalom Church this year is "For One Life".
The key scripture is the following:
Matthew 16:26
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul.
From this verse, one can understand how valuable and priceless is a person's life. There is nothing that we can give in exchange for our lives. Let us rejoice and live our life to the fullest and for God's amazing mission.
Hallelujah
Fellowship

Thank you Hirose-san for your warm service.
See you all next week!

Merry Christmas TGIS fans. We had a fantastic time this past Saturday Christmas Day. For the first time ever we had a joint service, TGIS/Chinese Service/Christmas Celebration. Let me tell you about it. It was epic man!
To start off we had this kinda easy Christmas quiz with some hidden trick questions that mostly everyone could answer 98% accurately, but that 2% was tricky! Want to find our the answers? You have to come to next year's celebration.
Next we were led by the multi-talented Kayo as she played the piano and led worship to our Lord Jesus Christ. She sang the traditional Christmas carols of Joy To The World, and Silent Night. All the songs were tri-lingual: Japanese, Taiwanese, and English. It was totally awesome. Thanks alot Kayo!
Then we had a sports performance of yo-yo by Miki. He is only in Jr. High with 4 months under his belt, he did some amazing tricks on the yo-yo that takes the pros years to master. Thank you Miki.
We had a special treat it was the new Chinese Service AKB48 led by Yusuke (Panpan), his lovely wife, and Kohshin-san (Kwanjing) doing the number "I Want You." It was hilarious. All the people were rolling on the ground. Encore!
The message was given by our beloved Pastor and leader of the free world, Elmer Inafuku. He talked about the Christmas story, How Jesus came to earth as a baby, the mighty Son of God. It was God's gift to the world as we believe that Jesus died on the cross, shed his blood for our sins, and was raised from the dead, we can all have eternal life. So let's receive that gift from Jesus. And that's what Christmas is all about!
We ended with a candle light song, God Bless You as we sang his praises in Japanese, Chinese, and English thinking of the very first Christmas of the baby Jesus lying in a manger.
Then it was banquet time! The food was so delicious and plentious. It matched our appetites. I know of this lady she went back 7 times to eat, you know who you are! It was a fun joyous celebration we could have with the Christians and newcomers. There were over 56 people in attendance. We had people from Switzerland, Germany, Taiwan, US, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, Hawaii, Japan, Waseda, ICU, Eikaiwas, and the likes. Thank you Jesus for coming into our lives, Happy Birthday! Please join us on Saturdays at 3pm Kotobuki Building. (2 pm free English conversation) Next Saturday January 1st there will be no meeting, it's a day off. Looking forward to the New Year. God bless us everyone!

Hello, wellcome to TGIS Blog again! Please look at this and guess how we enjoyed today.
Ice Break
Today Yue led the Icebreaker. We made up two group, and Yue gave a word to the front person of each group. Yes, that was the "Shiritori"word-chain-game.But today, we had to draw something instead of the word. Yue said,"Not only a noun, but also an ajective or a verb could be OK."Wow, that demanded us an advanced technique and ability of drawing abstract..and of course a large vocabulary! The room was filled with silence but actually, we were very excited. When the time was up, Yue judged which group won. Then we all laughed out loud. Thank you, Yue-chan. Wait, nobody drew the thing that ended with the letter "x"...:)
Worship
1 One Way
2 You Are Good
3 Running with Giants
4 Mighty to Save
