Hallelujah, the rainy season was over at last!
Icebreak
Tomoko organized icebreak this time, and the game was charades.
Each person explained the word Tomoko gave by making a gesture.
The word I got was "fireworks"...I was a bad actor, but it was lucky for me to have members who are talented in guessing!
Thank you Tomoko! That was a lot of fun!!!!!
Before Worship
Kumi shared one passage from the Bible.
Does anybody know that she has a small notebook put on her cell phone?
She writes down her favorite bible verses in there.
Thit is a great good idea to share for others!
Thank you Kumi!
Message
Sora translated for us, thank you Sora!!
Pastor Elmer shared the message.
Through this year, Shinjuku Shalom Church tries to become an "Encore Church", which is a church that anybody wants to keep coming again.
So, how can Shalom become a church like this?!
By 2 Corinthian 1:4
"who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
We also read the story of the good Samaritan (Luke10:33 ~).
Samaritans were looked down by the Jewish, so when they see someone in pain, they were able to understand and have compassion for them.
In our life, not only good things but also bad accidents, troubles happen to us.
However, these things are also part of God's purpose for us.
Because through thes trials, we can be changed into someone compassionate like the Samaritans.
Since we have been through the bad experiences ourselves, we can also understand the feelings of others who have similar experience (共感).
The purpose of life is NOT to live for ourselves only, but also for OTHERS and help other people when they are in need.
Thank God for today's message.

Aloha everyone!
I had fun again at this past Saturday's TGIS service with 15 other
members who attended. Ronnie asked me to
write this week's blog (my first time!) so here's what happened:
ICEBREAKER
Wayne always comes up with interesting games to
start us off. We divided into two teams,
and then one member from each team went up to the board to answer one of
Wayne's "yes" or "no" questions. We only
had two seconds to answer each question!
After answering the question, the two people then walked over to a chair
with a plastic container filled with 30 marbles suspended by a bunch of plastic
sticks under them. Each person pulled a
stick out hoping not to drop any of the marbles. Well, my team dropped the most marbles so we
lost. But the game was totally fun and
filled with lots of suspense and laughter!
WORSHIP
I led worship again this week using Hillsong's
totally powerful and cool DVD. Mahalo
(thank you) to Maru for operating the laptop.
Here are the songs we sang to praise and worship God:
For
Who You Are
More
To See
You
Alone Are God
At
The Cross
TESTIMONY
Yue shared how she received Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. Yes, God is full of love and has overflowing grace and an abundance of mercy for ALL of us. Thanks to Yue for sharing!
Wayne shared another powerful message from the Bible using the scripture from 1 Corinthians 1:10 in which the apostle, Paul, urged the Corinthian church to agree with one another and be perfectly united in mind and thought so as to not have any divisions among them. He also shared from Romans 8:6-7 which encourages us to be filled with the mind controlled by the Spirit which is life and peace instead of being filled with the mind of sinful man which is death and hostile to God. And thanks to Kumi for doing a great job of interpreting again. Mahalo and otsukaresama, Wayne and Kumi!
FELLOWSHIP
I think I need to go on a diet. The snacks during fellowship time were delicious as usual, and I especially enjoyed the ginger snap cookies. (Whoever brought them, please bring more this Saturday!)
Also during our fellowship time, Kumi shared her
experiences from her trip to Korea last week.
She had a really blessed time visiting several churches to include Yoido
Full Gospel Church which has the world's largest congregation with something
like over 800,000 members!
I'm looking forward to attending this Saturday's TGIS service. If you haven't visited yet, please stop by. We look forward to seeing you and having lots of fellowship and fun together!
Hihi everyone, this week was another full house of around 20 people. Thank God for bringing so many brothers and sisters to this meeting. We were able to have a very fun TGIS service today.

Here is Maria
Peggy shared her testimony of how God answers her prayer and healed her case of insomnia when she was a teenager. As for Maria, she participates in CCC, Campus Crusade for Christ, and she has been in Japan on a mission trip for one year.

Hallelujah!
It's first time for me to share what happened at TGIS this time!
First,I really would like you to know..
Many people came here and joined, that made us moved! About 22 people!
Some people were the members of a volunteer group.
They cleaned up the street in Kabukichyo area from this morning, even though the weather was very hot and humid.
One member shared their vision. They want to save the earth! What a brilliant vision it is!
Normally, how many people like to pick up trash on the street as an volunteer?
They seem to do it with joy and a purpose!
Ice Break
This time I led the ice break activity.
This was also first time for me. Thank you guys for helping me a lot!
The activity is that everyone needs to write down three things they already done such as accident, study, travel,etc... on a piece of paper.
We had two groups, and each group guessed had to guess who in the other group wrote the paper.
We enjoyed a good time and got to know each other better.
Testimony
Takako shared her testimony, especially about the time she spent abroad and how she came to accept Jesus.
At the same time, she talked about the baptism. She is waiting for the time to get it and praying to God.
We pray for you so that God chooses the best time for you,Takako.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Message
Sora translated for us and it was the first time for her.You did really good job,Sora! thank you so much!!!! your translation made us understood the message better!
Roman14;10
"You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat."
Pastor Elmer shared message.
We learned that Lord always looks on our inside, not outside.
He never judge us through what we are doing, what we look like, and what we have done etc...
so,we need to try to take off the glasses of judgment, criticism, insult, contempt for others.
Instead, we need to see each other through the glasses of love and grace, and try to see the inside, the heart, the spirit all because God loves us so much, we should love others too.
Refreshments
Again this week, we have had a great snack time and getting to know each other.
May God bless each one this week.
2010.06.19 TGIS Blog (Posted by Kanako)
Hallelujah!
<Ice Break>
Ronnie prepared a very good game. It was a word association
game. He gave us a topic, such as "Red" or "Japan",
and we write as many words associated with this topic on
the white board.
We were all excited about which team is going to win.
Red team? or Blue team?
<Worship>
This week Pastor Elmer led the worship with DVD
and the songs we sang were very exciting!!
1. Mighty to Save (Hill song)
2. At the Cross (Hill song)
<Testimony> No testimony for today... ><
Next time will be Takako's.
Please share us, we're really looking forward to hearing from
you!!
<Message>
Wayne shared the message of "The Victor " today.
Deuteronomy 8:7
"For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land--a land with
streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valleys and
hills;
Romans 8:37
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him
who loved us."
You are a victor, you are a conqueror according to the Scriptures.
Some days we face trials, tribulations, guilt, depression,
unworthiness, losses, defeat, but we just need to lean on Jesus.
<Refreshment>
Today, we are happy!! because so many new guests came here
Feel free and come and join us, we're waiting for yours next week !
In His Love !!
Hallelujah! Everyone ! it's first time for me to writing this.
2. Holy Is The Lord
3. Amazing Love
4. Salvation is Here
<Testimony>
"And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table,
a woman came having as alabaster flask of very costly oil, made of pure nard. And she broke the flask and poured it on His head. but there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said,'why was this fragrant oil wasted?"
Ronnie has strong patience, he never abandon his co-worker. We'd like to be like him.
<Interpretation>
This week at TGIS as usual we introduced our service then we went right into the Icebreaker.
Ice Break

Message
Mark 9:45
"And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell."
Another good point he mentioned is how at one moment we can be praising the Lord by the Holy Spirit. And then at the next moment speaking words for Satan. See how even the first generation disciple Peter faced the same challenge.
Here, Peter declares Jesus as the Christ.
Mark 8:29
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Peter answered, "You are the Christ."
A few scriptures later, Peter did not think in the mind of God.
Mark 8:33
"But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
Let us pray at all times and be aware of the words we speak.
Pastor Elmer also showed us some colorful slides of his trip to Singapore for 2 conferences involving the cell group and youth.
Refreshment
We also had a time of refreshment: drinking tea, eating snacks, and just talking story. Another great meeting for the Lord.
In His Service,
