Ice Break
This week at TGIS as usual we introduced our service then we went right into the Icebreaker.
Ice Break
This week we had Takako who has been coming for 2 months
now and she played a Guess What The Thing Is Game. We had 2 teams and a
lone person from each team trying to guess the word in back of them on a white
board. It was a very difficult, but fun game.
Worship
Worship
Next Maru invited us to worship the Lord and we sang Lord,
You Are Good and other favorite praise songs.
Testimony
Testimony
Then we had a testimony by Kermit, an American
who is drawn to Japan and has been studying Japanese culture and wants to preach
Jesus according to how the Japanese would understand the gospel.
We then had a short word of encouragement from Pastor
Nozomu Okuyama, who spends most of his time in the US and Canada spreading the gospel.
Message
Message
At last Pastor Elmer gave a short message on using our
tongues or mouths to say good things. He brought out in the Bible where it says
if your hand, foot, or eyes offend you then get rid of it and then you can go to
heaven minus a limb or eye. He likened it to our tongues if we talk bad about
someone or complain we should cut off our tongue. So we should manage our
tongues and not sin.
Mark 9:45
"And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell."
Another good point he mentioned is how at one moment we can be praising the Lord by the Holy Spirit. And then at the next moment speaking words for Satan. See how even the first generation disciple Peter faced the same challenge.
Here, Peter declares Jesus as the Christ.
Mark 8:29
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Peter answered, "You are the Christ."
A few scriptures later, Peter did not think in the mind of God.
Mark 8:33
"But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
Let us pray at all times and be aware of the words we speak.
Pastor Elmer also showed us some colorful slides of his trip to Singapore for 2 conferences involving the cell group and youth.

Then we had our last song and closed the meeting.
Refreshment
We also had a time of refreshment: drinking tea, eating snacks, and just talking story. Another great meeting for the Lord.
